Our coalition unveiled a new mural in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn on the corner of Gates and Irving Avenue, on a heavy foot traffic street with folks who are directly impacted – to call attention to the debt crisis in the home countries of so many Black and Latino New Yorkers. The 2-story mural depicted images of the faces of the people affected, as well as an images smashing the vultures in shape of a chess piece and the name of our campaign name “It’s Not A Game, It’s People.” The mural was put together in conjunction with Afro-Puerto Rican artists Tierra Armstrong, and Anusha Mehar, as a conversation starter and a community celebration to bring more people into the campaign. We were also joined by students from The Academy of Urban Planning High School, who assisted in painting the mural along with local electeds.
